चालीसा काल का पहला सप्ताह
📒 पहला पाठ: इसायाह का ग्रन्थ 55:10-11
10) जिस तरह पानी और बर्फ़ आकाश से उतर कर भूमि सींचे बिना, उसे उपजाऊ बनाये और हरियाली से ढके बिना वहाँ नहीं लौटते, जिससे भूमि बीज बोने वाले को बीज और खाने वाले को अनाज दे सके,
11) उसी तरह मेरी वाणी मेरे मुख से निकल कर व्यर्थ ही मेरे पास नहीं लौटती। मैं जो चाहता था, वह उसे कर देती है और मेरा उद्देश्य पूरा करने के बाद ही वह मेरे पास लौट आती है।
📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती 6:7-15
7) ’’प्रार्थना करते समय ग़ैर-यहूदियों की तरह रट नहीं लगाओ। वे समझते हैं कि लम्बी-लम्बी प्रार्थनाएँ करने से हमारी सुनवाई होती है।
8) उनके समान नहीं बनो, क्योंकि तुम्हारे माँगने से पहले ही तुम्हारा पिता जानता है कि तुम्हें किन किन चीज़ों की ज़रूरत है।
9) तो इस प्रकार प्रार्थना किया करो- स्वर्ग में विराजमान हमारे पिता! तेरा नाम पवित्र माना जाये।
10) तेरा राज्य आये। तेरी इच्छा जैसे स्वर्ग में, वैसे पृथ्वी पर भी पूरी हो।
11) आज हमारा प्रतिदिन का आहार हमें दे।
12) हमारे अपराध क्षमा कर, जैसे हमने भी अपने अपराधियों को क्षमा किया है।
13) और हमें परीक्षा में न डाल, बल्कि बुराई से हमें बचा।
14) यदि तुम दूसरों के अपराध क्षमा करोगे, तो तुम्हरा स्वर्गिक पिता भी तुम्हें क्षमा करेगा।
15) परन्तु यदि तुम दूसरों को क्षमा नहीं करोगे, तो तुम्हारा पिता भी तुम्हारे अपराध क्षमा नहीं करेगा।
📚 मनन-चिंतन
जैसे ही हम इस पवित्र उपवास के मौसम में यात्रा करते हैं, आज मत्ती 6:7-15 पर हम मनन करें, जहां हमारे प्रभु येसु मसीह हमें हमारी प्रार्थनाओं की सच्चाई के बारे में सिखाते हैं। वह प्रार्थना में खाली शब्दों और दोहराव के खिलाफ चेतावनी देते हैं, ईश्वर के साथ एक यथार्थ संबंध के महत्व पर ज़ोर देते हैं। हमारे पिता को दिल से संवाद की इच्छा है, न कि केवल शब्दों का यांत्रिक उच्चारण। इस उपवास में, आइए हम सच्चाई के साथ प्रार्थना करने का प्रयास करें, अपने सच्चे विचारों और भावनाओं को ईश्वर के सामने रखते हुए। येसु ने हमें वह प्रार्थना भी परिचय कराई, जिसे हम सभी बहुत अच्छी तरह जानते हैं - हमारे पिता। इन सरल लेकिन गहरे शब्दों में, हमें हमारी प्रार्थनाओं के लिए एक मार्गदर्शक मिलता है। हम ईश्वर को अपने पिता के रूप में स्वीकार करते हैं, उसके राज्य के आने की अपनी इच्छा व्यक्त करते हैं, और अपने जीवन में उसकी इच्छा की तलाश करते हैं। क्षमा प्रभु की प्रार्थना में एक केंद्रीय विषय है। हम ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करते हैं कि वह हमें क्षमा करे, जैसे हम दूसरों को क्षमा करते हैं। उपवास हमें एक अवसर प्रदान करता है, जब हम अपने दिलों की जांच करें और उन लोगों को क्षमा करें, जिन्होंने हमारा बुरा किया हो। ऐसा करके, हम अपने स्वर्गीय पिता की कृपा का अनुकरण करते हैं। इस उपवास के मौसम में, आइए हम सच्ची और दिल से प्रार्थना के माध्यम से ईश्वर के साथ एक गहरे संबंध में प्रवेश करें। हमारे जीवन का परिवर्तन हो, जब हम दूसरों को क्षमा करते हैं, ईश्वर की इच्छा की तलाश करते हैं, और उसके राज्य के आने की उम्मीद करते हैं। इस उपवास की यात्रा में, हम अपने प्रेमी पिता के करीब आएं और उसके दयालु हृदय से बहने वाली कृपा और दया का अनुभव करें।

📚 REFLECTION
As we get on on this sacred season of Lent, let us reflect on the words of our Lord Jesus Christ from the Gospel of Matthew (6:7-15). In these verses, Jesus teaches us about the sincerity of our prayers. He warns against empty words and repetitions in prayer, emphasizing the importance of a genuine connection with God. Our Father desires heartfelt communication, not just a mechanical recitation of words. This Lent, let us strive to pray with sincerity, pouring out our true thoughts and feelings before God. Jesus also introduces the prayer that we all know so well the Our Father. In these simple yet profound words, we find a guide for our prayers. We acknowledge God as our Father, express our desire for His kingdom to come, and seek His will in our lives.
Forgiveness is a central theme in the Lord’s Prayer. We ask God to forgive us as we forgive others. Lent provides us with an opportunity to examine our hearts and extend forgiveness to those who may have wronged us. In doing so, we imitate the mercy of our Heavenly Father.
This Lenten season, let us enter into a deeper relationship with God through sincere and heartfelt prayer. May our lives be transformed as we forgive others, seek God’s will, and anticipate the coming of His kingdom. In this journey of Lent, may we draw closer to our loving Father and experience the grace and mercy that flow from His compassionate heart.

आज येसु हमें प्रार्थना करना सिखाते हैं और क्षमा के महत्व पर जोर देते हैं। आज का सुसमाचार हमें याद दिलाता है कि क्षमा केवल एक आज्ञा नहीं है, यह एक प्रतिज्ञा भी है। यह याद दिलाता है कि जब हम दूसरों को क्षमा करते हैं, तो हम स्वयं के लिए भी क्षमा मांग रहे होते हैं। यह स्मरण दिलाता है कि दूसरों को क्षमा करने की हमारी क्षमता सीधे ईश्वर के साथ हमारे संबंध से जुड़ी है।
क्षमा करना हमेशा आसान नहीं होता है, लेकिन यह हमारे अपने कल्याण और ईश्वर के साथ हमारे संबंध के लिए आवश्यक है। क्रोध और आक्रोश को बनाये रहना हमें भारी बना सकता है और हमें ईश्वर के प्रेम और अनुग्रह की परिपूर्णता का अनुभव करने से रोक सकता है। इसके विपरित, क्षमा हमें शांति और स्वतंत्रता दिला सकती है।
अंततः यह पद्यांष क्षमा का जीवन जीने के लिए एक आह्वान है। यह हमें स्मरण दिलाता है कि जैसे ईश्वर ने हमें क्षमा किया है, वैसे ही हमें भी दूसरों को क्षमा करना चाहिए। आइए हम अपने दिल और दिमाग को क्षमा की शक्ति के लिए खोलें, और इसे हमारे जीवन और ईश्वर के साथ हमारे रिश्ते को बदलने दें।

📚 REFLECTION
Today Jesus teaches us how to pray and he emphasizes the importance of forgiveness. Today’s gospel passage reminds us that forgiveness is not just a commandment, it is also a promise. It is a reminder that when we forgive others, we are also asking for forgiveness for ourselves. It is a reminder that our ability to forgive others is directly connected to our relationship with God.
Forgiveness is not always easy, but it is necessary for our own well-being and for our relationship with God. Holding on to anger and resentment can weigh us down and prevent us from experiencing the fullness of God's love and grace. Forgiveness, on the other hand, can bring us peace and freedom.
In the end, this passage is a call to live a life of forgiveness. It reminds us that just as God has forgiven us, we too must forgive others. Let us open our hearts and minds to the power of forgiveness, and let it transform our lives and our relationship with God.

📚 मनन-चिंतन - 3
येसु के अनुसार प्रार्थना में महत्वपूर्ण बात यह नहीं है कि हम कितनी लम्बी प्रार्थना करते हैं या हम कितना शोर मचाते हैं बल्कि प्रार्थना करते समय हमारा जो मनोभाव है वह महत्वपूर्ण है। बच्चों जैसी मनोवृत्ति के साथ ही हमें स्वयं को ईश्वर के सामने प्रस्तुत करना चाहिए। प्रभु हमारे पिता हैं और हमारी प्रार्थना हमें प्यार करने वाले उस पिता के साथ एक अनौपचारिक बातचीत होनी चाहिए। येसु हमें हमारी प्रार्थना के लिए एक आदर्श देते हैं। यह प्रार्थना ईश्वर और अन्य मनुष्यों के साथ हमारे उचित संबंध को प्रदर्शित करती है। यह प्रार्थना ईश्वर को "हमारे पिता" के रूप में संबोधित करती है। ईश्वर को इस प्रकार सम्बोधित करने से हमें अन्य सभी मनुष्यों को अपने भाई-बहन के रूप में मानने का आह्वान किया जाता है। हमारे भाइयों और बहनों के साथ अच्छे और प्रेमपूर्ण संबंध के आधार पर ही हम एक अच्छी प्रार्थना कर सकते हैं। हमारे जीवन में ऐसे क्षण आते हैं जब दूसरों के साथ हमारा रिश्ता हमारी नफरत, अन्याय और अपराधों से टूट जाता है। इससे पहले कि हम सार्थक प्रार्थना कर सकें, ऐसे टूटे हुए रिश्तों को सुधारना होगा। इसलिए इस प्रार्थना में क्षमा के पहलू को लाया गया है। प्रार्थना करने से पहले हमें दूसरों को क्षमा करने की आवश्यकता है।

📚 REFLECTION
According to Jesus what is important in prayer is not the number of words that we utter or the noise we make but the attitude we have while praying. It is with a childlike attitude that we should present ourselves before God. God is our Father and our prayer should be an informal conversation with that loving Father. Jesus gives us a model for our prayer. This prayer demonstrates our proper relationship with God and with other human beings. This prayer addresses God as “our Father”. By addressing God in this way we are called upon to consider all other human beings as our brothers and sisters. A good prayer presupposes good and loving relationship with our brothers and sisters. There are moments in our lives when our relationship with others is broken by our hatred, injustice and offences. Such broken relationships are to be mended before we can meaningfully pray. That is why the aspect of forgiveness is brought into this prayer. We need to forgive before we can pray.

📚 मनन-चिंतन - 4
प्रार्थना वास्तवितक तथा प्रभावशाली होती है। प्रार्थना इसलिये सत्य और प्रभावशाली है कि ईश्वर सत्य और सर्वशक्तिशाली है। जब हम प्रार्थना करते हैं तो हम पिता परमेश्वर के साथ संयुक्त हो जाते हैं जिससे हमें दुनिया का सामना करने की शक्ति एवं सामर्थ्य प्राप्त होता है। प्रार्थना के द्वारा ईश्वर हमें उनकी योजना और उनके पूर्व-प्रंबध के बारे में बताता है। वे अपनी योजनाएं हम पर प्रकट करते तथा उसकी सहायता का आशवासन देते हैं। प्रार्थना मंजिल तो नहीं बदलती किन्तु वह मंजिल तक पहुँचने की प्रक्रिया को अवश्य ही प्रभावित करती है। येसु बताते हैं, ’’तुम्हारे मांगने से पहले ही तुम्हारा पिता जानता है कि तुम्हें किन-किन चीजों की जरूरत है।’’ हमें आवश्यक चीजों को देने के लिये ईश्वर को हमारे ज्ञान और मार्गदर्शन की आवश्यकता नहीं है।
येसु ने सदैव अपने पिता की इच्छा को पूरी करने के लिये प्रार्थना की। प्रार्थना हमें ईश्वर की इच्छा पूरी करने में मदद करती है। येसु ने शिष्यों को ईश्वर की इच्छा पूरी करने, उसके राज्य के आगमन तथा उसके नाम को पवित्र मानने के लिये प्रार्थना करना सिखाया। गेथसेमनी की बारी में येसु की प्रार्थना इसी तथ्य को दोहराती है। ’’पिता! यदि तू ऐसा चाहे, तो यह प्याला मुझ से हटा ले। फिर भी मेरी नहीं, बल्कि तेरी ही इच्छा पूरी हो।’’ येसु की इस तीव्र प्रार्थना ने ईश्वर की योजना को तो नहीं बदला किन्तु येसु को उसे पूरा करने की सहायता करने के लिये स्वर्ग से दूत अवश्य ही आया। ’’तब उन्हें स्वर्ग का एक दूत दिखाई पड़ा, जिसने उन को ढारस बँधाया।’’ (लूकस 22:43) संत पौलुस को भी किसी गंभीर परेशानी का सामना करना पडा जिसे वे ’मेरे शरीर में एक काँटा चुभा दिया गया है।’ कहकर अभिव्यक्त करते हैं। उन्होंने इससे निदान के लिये तीव्र प्रार्थना की। कॉटा तो नहीं निकाला गया, किन्तु ईश्वर ने उनकी सहायता यह कह कर की, ’’मेरी कृपा तुम्हारे लिये पर्याप्त है।’’ (2 कुरि. 12:7:9)
हमारा जीवन भी अनेक छोटी-बडी समस्याओं से जूझ रहा है। हमें भी प्रार्थना करना चाहिये कि जीवन की यह प्रक्रिया हम उत्तमता से पूर्ण करे।

📚 REFLECTION
Prayers are real and prayers are effectively powerful. Prayers are real and powerful because God is real and almighty. When we pray, we become one with God the Father and through this union we are strengthened to face the world. In and through prayer God takes us into confidence of his plan and providence. He reveals his plans and assures us of his providential help. Prayer may not change the destination but it surely and certainly changes the process to that destination. Jesus says, “your Father knows what you need before you ask him”. This is very essential to realize that God does not need our wisdom and guidance to fulfill his work of taking care of us.
Jesus always prayed for the Father’s will to be fulfilled. Prayer enables us to do God’s will. Jesus taught his disciples to pray for God’s kingdom to come and his name to be held holy. Jesus’ prayer at the Garden of Gethsemane is very evident of this reality, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless, not my will but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42). Jesus’ intense prayer did not alter God’s plan but Jesus was strengthened as an angel came to assist him, to fulfill God’s will. St. Paul too had certain issues which he terms, “thorn in the flesh” for which he prayed intensely. However the thorn was not removed but he was assured of God’s grace, “My grace is sufficient for you.” Our lives too are full of difficulties. We need to pray for the grace to complete the process gracefully.
